ECHO WAR: CONVERGENCE

Multiplayer

ECHO WAR: CONVERGENCE

A large-scale Battlefield Portal experience where the battlefield remembers how you fight.

Every meaningful combat life can become an Imprint — a recorded memory of how a soldier moved, fought, attacked objectives and survived. Capture powerful Time Anchors to access your team's archive and recall fallen soldiers back onto the battlefield as Echoes.

The soldiers fighting beside you later in the match may literally be reconstructed versions of lives fought earlier in the same battle.

THE ECHO WAR

Fight normally, but every life matters.

While the Convergence Array is active, Echo War records meaningful combat lives and evaluates them based on movement, combat activity, objective involvement and battlefield performance.

When that soldier dies, the life may be preserved as an Imprint.

Imprints can later return as Echo Soldiers — reconstructed AI combatants that replay fragments of the movement and behaviour recorded during the original life.

How your team fights now determines what comes back later.

TIME ANCHORS

Three Time Anchors become active across the battlefield each round.

Capture and hold them to:

  • Generate Stability for your team
  • Unlock Recall Waves
  • Establish powerful reinforcement positions
  • Create strategic control over the battlefield
  • Deny the enemy access to the temporal network

Anchors can be captured, neutralised, contested and retaken throughout the match.

Holding territory matters far more than simply collecting kills.

COMBAT IMPRINTS

Your life is more than a respawn.

Echo War records battlefield information throughout meaningful combat lives, including:

  • Movement routes
  • Combat activity
  • Kills and damage
  • Objective involvement
  • Battlefield positioning
  • Survival time
  • Movement behaviour
  • Final combat position

When you die, qualifying lives enter your team's archive.

Strong combat runs become valuable future assets that may return later in the same battle.

ECHO SOLDIERS

Captured Time Anchors periodically open the archive and deploy Recall Waves.

Archived soldiers return as Echoes — reconstructed AI combatants based on previously recorded lives.

Echoes can:

  • Retrace archived movement routes
  • Re-enter previous combat positions
  • Fight enemy soldiers
  • Support objective attacks
  • Reinforce controlled territory
  • Defend important positions
  • Strengthen your team's frontline

Echoes exist temporarily before collapsing back into the archive.

Destroying hostile Echoes also rewards your team with additional Stability.

ECHO CLASSES

Imprints are analysed according to how the original soldier fought.

Possible Echo archetypes include:

  • Assault: Aggressive frontline combat and direct attacks
  • Guardian: Defensive and objective-focused behaviour
  • Hunter: Combat-oriented pursuit and pressure
  • Support: Team-oriented battlefield presence
  • Overwatch: Positional and longer-range combat
  • Flanker: Movement-heavy routes and aggressive rotations
  • Breacher: High-intensity close-range pushes

Different lives create different Echoes.

Your playstyle helps determine what returns from the archive.

RECALL WAVES

Owning a Time Anchor activates its Recall network.

When enough archived combat data exists:

  • The Anchor begins charging
  • A Recall countdown starts
  • Archived Imprints are selected
  • Echo soldiers materialise
  • The reconstructed force enters the battlefield

The first Recall is a major moment in the match, revealing how the lives fought earlier can return to influence the present.

Successful Recall Waves also generate Stability.

STABILITY

Echo War uses Stability as its strategic battle score.

Stability is earned through controlling and exploiting the temporal network:

  • Capture Time Anchors
  • Hold controlled Anchors
  • Successfully deploy Recall Waves
  • Destroy hostile Echo soldiers

Ordinary infantry kills do not directly generate Stability.

Kills still matter — they strengthen combat Imprints, influence Echo classification and help your team control the battlefield.

But the timeline is won through objectives.

CONVERGENCE

As the battle continues, the timeline becomes increasingly unstable.

During Convergence, temporal events begin altering the battlefield and Recall network.

Possible events include:

  • Anchor Overload
  • Signal Interference
  • Double Imprint Windows
  • Echo Storms
  • Accelerated Recall activity
  • Unstable Echo appearances

The deeper the match progresses, the more its own history begins returning to fight.

THE LAST TIMELINE

Eventually the competing timelines collapse into one final reality.

When The Last Timeline begins:

  • The Prime Anchor comes online
  • Respawn systems begin collapsing
  • Remaining soldiers become increasingly valuable
  • Echo support becomes critical
  • The entire battlefield converges toward one final objective

Once the respawn network collapses, every surviving soldier matters.

Capture the Prime Anchor to stabilise your team's timeline — or eliminate the enemy before they can do the same.

PRIME ANCHOR

The Prime Anchor is the ultimate objective.

It remains locked during the normal phases of the battle and activates only during The Last Timeline.

Prime locations are designed as major final-battle arenas with:

  • Multiple attack routes
  • Defensive positions
  • Strong cover
  • Human and AI combat
  • Echo reinforcements
  • High-intensity final engagements

Taking an ordinary Anchor builds your future.

Taking Prime decides it.

ARRAY SOLDIERS

Echo War supports self-managed AI forces so the experience remains playable even with smaller human populations.

Array soldiers behave as normal battlefield combatants:

  • Attack objectives
  • Capture Anchors
  • Defend controlled positions
  • Fight enemy forces
  • Create combat Imprints
  • Respawn normally
  • Potentially return later as Echoes

Array soldiers are normal troops.

Echoes are reconstructed memories of previous lives.

DYNAMIC OBJECTIVES

Echo War does not use exactly the same battlefield layout every round.

A larger pool of possible Time Anchor and Prime locations is used to create different objective combinations between matches.

This creates:

  • Different frontlines
  • Different attack routes
  • Different defensive opportunities
  • Different Recall positions
  • Different Prime battles
  • Greater replayability

The battlefield may be familiar.

The timeline is not.

CUSTOM BATTLEFIELD

Echo War uses a dedicated version of MP_Contaminated redesigned specifically around the experience.

The battlefield includes:

  • Physical Time Anchor installations
  • Temporal relay equipment
  • Power and communications infrastructure
  • Fortified objective positions
  • Custom battlefield cover
  • Distinct Anchor locations
  • Dedicated Echo deployment areas
  • Multiple objective approaches
  • Custom Prime battle arenas
  • Environmental storytelling

The goal is for MP_Contaminated to feel like Echo War's battlefield, not simply a stock map with objectives placed onto it.

TEMPORAL EVENTS

As Convergence increases, special events can alter the flow of battle.

These events can affect:

  • Recall timing
  • Imprint strength
  • Echo availability
  • Anchor behaviour
  • Battlefield pressure
  • Team strategy

No two battles are intended to unfold exactly the same way.

CUSTOM INTERFACE

Echo War includes a purpose-built interface designed around the temporal warfare systems.

The HUD communicates:

  • Current match phase
  • Remaining phase time
  • Team Stability
  • Anchor ownership
  • Capture progress
  • Capture countdowns
  • Recall charging
  • Recall countdowns
  • Temporal events
  • Imprint status
  • Prime status
  • Last Timeline information

Important information appears contextually rather than permanently overwhelming the screen.

AUDIO & PRESENTATION

Important Echo War events use dedicated visual and audio feedback.

Presentation includes:

  • Capture confirmation
  • Capture countdown cues
  • Recall charging
  • 3... 2... 1... Recall countdowns
  • Echo Wave deployment
  • Phase countdown warnings
  • Temporal events
  • Respawn collapse
  • Prime activation
  • Last Timeline transitions

Major events use stronger presentation while ordinary battlefield information remains restrained.

MATCH PHASES

Every battle evolves through several distinct stages:

  • Introduction: The Convergence Array activates
  • Phase I — Imprint: Capture Anchors and create the first combat memories
  • Phase II — Recall: Archived soldiers begin returning
  • Phase III — Convergence: Temporal instability and Echo activity intensify
  • The Last Timeline: Respawns collapse and Prime becomes the final objective
  • Timeline Resolution: One surviving timeline is declared

The match becomes progressively more dangerous as everything created earlier begins affecting the present.
