Multiplayer
Squad Obliteration from Battlefield 4, now in Battlefield 2042!
This is the official match-ready version of the Squad Obliteration mode.
This experience features a ready up phase where player restrictions are severely limited, players are not allowed to shoot or damage any part of the map or other players. This is intentional. The ready up phase gives teams the ability to wait for all their players to load into the map before it begins, and also allows players to change teams.
How to use the menu:
- Press the crouch key to change the selected menu item, from top to bottom
- Go prone and press the interact key to action the item that is selected (prefixed with '-->')
- The first player that joins the server (Usually the server host OR the first player that loads into the map) is the server admin and has access to an additional menu with the following options:
- Change the match setup:
- Default: Time limit of 15 minutes and first team to destroy 2 out of the 3 MCOMs wins
- Overtime: Time limit of 5 minutes and the first team to destroy an MCOM wins
- Start map elimination: This will initiate the map elimination mode (Read more about it down below)

Processes explained:
SQUAD OBLITERATION:
- The objective of the mode is for each team to hold control of the bomb which can then be used to arm and destroy an enemy MCOM Station. There is only one bomb active at any given time, which forces both teams to fight for control over it. Victory is achieved by destroying any two out of the three enemy's MCOM stations or by having destroyed more stations when the timer runs out. If both teams have destroyed the same amount of MCOM stations at the end of the round, the round will end in a draw
- A map consists of two halves (rounds). A map is won by the team who has destroyed the highest amount of MCOM’s over both halves (rounds) of the map. (This means you add the total amount of destroyed MCOM's for both rounds, the team that has the highest number after adding these amounts is the winner of the map)
- To decide which map is played, teams will eliminate maps (map elimination process explained below)
MAP ELIMINATION:
- The player hosting the server can start the map elimination round in-game, during warmup (Ask an admin to assist if you need help)
- Both teams go head to head with defibs only. All players only have one life (can't respawn) and revive is disabled. The last team standing wins the map elimination round and gets to decide which team will start the map banning process
- Teams will take turns in banning maps from the available pool, until the remaining maps is the same as the maps required to play (i.e. Best of 1 map - ban maps until 1 map remains, Best of 3 maps - ban maps until 3 maps remains, Best of 5 maps - ban maps until 5 maps remains etc.). The remaining maps are then selected to be played in descending order. (i.e. In a best of 3 - the 3rd map gets selected first, 2nd map gets selected second and the last remaining map will be played first)
- Example A (in a best of 3 game) - Team 1 wins map elimination and decides they will start the map ban process:
- Team 1 eliminates a map
- Team 2 eliminates a map
- Team 1 eliminates a map
- Team 2 eliminates a map
- Team 1 selects 3rd map
- Team 2 selects 2nd map
- Final map remaining will be played 1st
- Example B (in a best of 3 game) - Team 1 wins map elimination and decides the other team will start the map ban process:
- Team 2 eliminates a map
- Team 1 eliminates a map
- Team 2 eliminates a map
- Team 1 eliminates a map
- Team 2 selects 3rd map
- Team 1 selects 2nd map
- Final map remaining will be played 1st
OVERTIME:
- If a map ends in a draw (Playing two rounds without a definitive winner), an Overtime on the same map must be played using the Stopwatch procedure
- The same map will be played again with two sides, one round on each side. The time limit will be reduced to 5 minutes for each side. The amount of MCOM’s which needs to be destroyed will be reduced to one. In case of a 1-1 draw the team which destroyed the MCOM faster will win the Overtime. You can see the times when an MCOM got destroyed in the first Score Screen after the round has ended. In case of a 0-0 draw Teams will continue to play overtimes until a winner has been found. This Overtime procedure is called Stopwatch
- The player hosting the server can change the match setup to "Overtime" in-game, during warmup (Ask an admin to assist if you need help)
